Garden Program Campaign
We are asking for help in raising money to help cover the startup costs of our garden.
Food banks across Michigan are seeing an increase in people needing assistance in 2025. This is likely to get worse, as the Fed recently cancelled $4.3 million in food to Michigan food banks.
While Crossroads is not a traditional food bank, it is an emergency food pantry and provides food across various programs, including the following:
Emergency food pantry
The only free hot meal on Sundays in Detroit
Ready-to-eat meals for those working with us to increase their stability
Children’s summer lunch program
Children’s summer and back-to-school Breakfast with a Backpack program
With costs increasing along with the number of folks needing assistance, Crossroads forecasts the need will get alarmingly greater for Metro Detroiters, and traditional funding sources will continue to get smaller. To help contribute, Crossroads would like to start an on-site garden program. We will work with other community experts and local urban farmers to grow as much as we can in our inaugural year of gardening. All produce and herbs grown will support our food programs to help expand product and reduce costs.
Your donations will go towards things like raised beds, seeds and starter plants, tools, and supplies. Every little bit helps, and we must band together to support each other and our community as much as possible.
We are also looking for donations of garden tools and supplies.
If you have garden tools or supplies that you would like to donate, please email Vice President of Operations Joseph Daniel-Hoste to arrange a drop-off time.
