”Love and then go where love demands.” |
Father James McLaren Crossroads Founder |
At Crossroads of Michigan, our purpose is simple, yet powerful: to love and then go where love demands. Since 1971, we’ve stood alongside individuals and families in distress—not just offering services but offering ourselves. We meet people where they are, with compassion, dignity, and a deep commitment to human connection. |
A Return to Mission |
The Board of Trustees recently launched several new strategic initiatives returning Crossroads to its original mission. We are refocusing toward Fr. McLaren’s original vision of a community where no one faces hardship alone; where love, not circumstance, defines how we show up for one another. Two significant changes were made to executive leadership and board make-up:
Dr. Joseph D. Daniel-Hoste, Vice President of Operations, who has agreed to guide Crossroads through this transition period. Joseph’s operational acumen and change management expertise are vital to stabilizing Crossroads. |
Mary McLaren Honsel, previous Executive Director and daughter of Fr. McLaren, has joined the board. Mary’s expertise, passion for Crossroads, and institutional knowledge will be invaluable over the coming months as we work to revitalize Crossroads and start down a new path. |
Continuing Our Good Work |
During this transition period, Crossroads will do everything we can to continue providing assistance with birth certificates and IDs, and providing clothing, hygiene items, and food for all who come to us. However, we need your help. |
More than 16,000 clients met with dignity, compassion and care in 2024 |
Nearly 3,000 clients have already come through our doors in 2025
More than 5,600 hot meals have been served on Sundays in 2025
We know these numbers will grow as more and more families struggle to make ends meet and turn to Crossroads for vital assistance. Your help will ensure Crossroads is ready to respond. |
A Brighter Future |
Crossroads of Michigan’s board of trustees, staff, and clients invite you to join in our revitalization of our mission. Your financial gift, no matter the size, helps ensure Crossroads will remain open and able to support those who need us most. In addition to financial gifts, we invite you to consider donating time as a volunteer. Crossroads offers more than services. We offer ourselves. We listen, we show up, and we stand with people in their pain, because authentic care can’t be rushed or reduced to a checklist. |
