Crossroads is a social service outreach agency with two locations in Detroit. Founded in 1971, Crossroads exists to support the community at large by providing emergency assistance, advocacy, and counseling to anyone in need.

Acting in partnership with many other agencies, parishes, hospitals, companies and organizations in the metro area, Crossroads offers assistance in the form of a hand-up. We work with our clients to meet their immediate needs and help them assess their situations to lessen the likelihood of future problems. Our efforts are funded by foundations, individuals, and friends who are committed to bringing hope to those living on the edge of despair... Donations of time, talent, and resources are always welcome. Learn How You Can Help

The need never diminishes.

Today more than half of Detroit’s children are living beneath the federal poverty level. Homeless men and women, many of whom are mentally ill, are sleeping outside in the cold. Those fortunate enough to be working even in low wage jobs, struggle with food, shelter, basic health care, and clothing. Our state and local economies have taken a devastating toll on the poor. The suffering in our city has intensified to emergency proportions, but there is hope.

Every year we reach out to our supporters and the community at large, to raise funds to support our social service programs that serve more than 12,500 individuals and families. We distribute food, clothing, wellness & hygiene products, and provide assistance for crucial prescriptions, medical supplies, employment, transportation, identification and offer general aid when needed.

Thanks to the support of more than 50 organizations, churches, businesses and family groups, we are able to serve more than 40,000 meals every year at our Sunday Soup Kitchen. For many, this meal is their only sustenance for the day. More than 96 percent of our revenue to help clients comes from private gifts and grants from foundations, churches, businesses and individuals. Every dollar counts to make sure no client has to make a decision to place food on the table or pay a utility bill.

Contributions can be made using the gift form, by phone or online. Please take a few moments to read our stories, learn more about our work, and then make a contribution to help pave the way to hope.

Sincerely, Mary McLaren Honsel
Executive Director
